Mordome™, Digital Hospitality Ecosystem
Portrait of Armando Pereira

Armando Pereira

Founder and CEO, Mordome, Inc.

I was born and raised in Ponta Delgada. I then built a career spanning more than forty years in Silicon Valley, California, bringing new technology to market, from telecommunications and industrial IoT to edge computing and autonomous vehicles. Now I am bringing it home.

Mordome

A digital hospitality platform created for the Azores and designed for Europe.

The digital butler for every home: it knows the guest, knows the island, and makes bookings for them with Azorean businesses before they arrive.

A tourism region grows in two ways: by attracting more visitors, which depends on routes, airline seats and airfares, and takes years that are rarely within our control; or by creating more value from each visit, which depends on who reaches the guest first and where their spending stays. That can be solved here. Mordome works on the second.

The property

Direct bookings on your own website, money in your account a few days later, and 4% of what guests spend on the island.

The guest

Arrives with an itinerary ready, in their own language, and a butler who responds at any time.

Island businesses

Sell weeks in advance, with appointments booked, and get paid at booking. No joining fee and no exclusivity.

An invitation to founding participants

The pilot starts in October on São Miguel, Terceira and Pico, with room for 25 property owners and 30 businesses as founding participants, with no charges until the end of December. Places are deliberately limited.

In return, I ask for honest feedback about what works and what is missing. And, if it proves worthwhile, your testimonial.

On the ground, Jorge Coelho, co-founder and commercial lead in the Azores, works closely with every property and business.

Become a founding participant
  1. PilotOctober to December 2026, with a small group across three islands
  2. Limited availabilityJanuary to May 2027, expanding to more islands based on the pilot results
  3. All islandsFrom June 1, 2027, across all nine Azorean islands

What I have built

Four decades bringing competitors to the same table and taking new technology from the laboratory to the market.

2013–2015

OpenFog Consortium

I launched the consortium with Cisco, Intel, Microsoft, Dell, Arm and Princeton University. The reference architecture we wrote is now IEEE 1934, the standard for fog and edge computing.

2017–2025

President of AVCC

Eight years leading the Autonomous Vehicle Computing Consortium, founded with GM, Toyota, Arm, DENSO, Bosch and Continental, with NVIDIA among its members. I negotiated the SEMI-AVCC alliance and the partnership with MLCommons.

Japan

Qualification at NTT Laboratories

I brought Marvell's optical chipsets through approval at NTT Laboratories, the most demanding validation in global telecommunications. Earlier, at Centillium, we won NTT's optical terminal contract.

Venture capital

More than $100 million

Raised in venture capital, from seed funding through Series C.

Global teams

From California to Bangalore

Executive roles in the United States, Japan, Germany, Italy and Brazil. At Centillium, I built a Bangalore team of 120 engineers, plus 200 from WIPRO.

Open standards

EPON contributed to IEEE

At Alloptic, EPON technology was contributed to IEEE rather than patented. It became a public standard, and NTT adopted it in Japan.

From design engineer at National Semiconductor to founder of Mordome.
